Evening Cherry: Sake tasting and food on the South Bank


Date: Wednesday, 22nd April 2009, 7.00pm
Venue: Tsuru, 4 Canvey Street, London, SE1 9AN
Fee: £17 per head to include sake for tasting

Japan Society members are invited to this exclusive sake tasting and food evening at Tsuru restaurant on the south bank.
The night will feature a brief lecture and sake tasting - exploring particularly how sake works with different food types - including a blind tasting with giveaways from Akashi Tai and Tsuru.
Members will learn how to match a range of different sakes (Honjozo, Daiginjo, Honjozo Genshu and Genmai Aged) with different types of freshly prepared Japanese food.
The menu will include free-range chicken yakitori, eel and sweetened shitake futomaki, vegetable and pork kushi katsu and pork gyoza with shichimi soy dip.
After the tasting, members will be invited to go outside and enjoy the spring evening atmosphere amongst the cherry trees with music from London's top Japanese DJ, Tomoki Tamura.
Additional food and drinks will be available to buy from the restaurant until late.
Programme:
6.30pm Doors open
7.00pm Sake Tasting
8.00pm until late DJs (additional food and drinks available).

This event is part of the Akashi Tai Cherry Blossom Festival which will run from 15th April to 25th May 2009 and will take place at 5 different Japanese restaurants across London.
